The Great Gatsby
with Susan Ohmer, Ph.D.
$35
The Roaring Twenties: flappers, nightclubs, jazz and cocktails. F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby” is a bittersweet evocation of this memorable decade, and 1925 marks its 100th anniversary. To celebrate the occasion, we will read Fitzgerald’s novel as well as Jillian Cantor’s “Beautiful Little Fools,” a sequel that imagines the lives of three women after the end of Fitzgerald’s story. For the novels, any copy of the books will be fine, and our public library carries them in print, eBook, and audiobook form. The class will meet in person except during the week of July 21, when we will talk on Zoom.
