W05 Singing on Sight (without “Reading Music”)
with Maretta Hershberger, M.A.
Can’t read music? Maybe you can...A singer once told me, “When I see the note, I can sing it, but I don’t know what it is.” This class will help you know just that - how to sing the note without necessarily knowing “what it is.” Believe it or not, you do not need to know the name of a note to know how it should sound. This is not music theory, but ear training, learning to hear the notes and their relationship to each other, enabling you to sing what you see. This class is aimed at choral singers who love to sing but learn primarily by ear; however, anyone is welcome. $2.00 copy fee due at first class.
Mon13 Passion for Piano

This class is for the beginner student or anyone wanting to learn to play with chords. Please purchase Hal Leonard's "Three Chord Songs-Super Easy Songbook". The first three songs are Ain't No Sunshine, All About That Bass, and All Around The Watchtower (available on Amazon) and bring it to the first session. You will NOT need to bring a piano or keyboard to class but should have one for practicing.

Wed18 Silvertones
with Maretta Hershberger, M.A.
Silvertones is a glee club for seniors – no auditions! We welcome anyone who wants to sing. Our focus is on performance of music that is both fun and entertaining, as well as serious; we sing both religious and non-religious music. This spring is our 10th anniversary, so we are celebrating by performing many of our favorite songs from past semesters, going all the way back to 2016! Silvertones gives a free public concert each semester and performs for as many as a half dozen senior groups and retirement centers as well. Participation in performances is expected unless there are extenuating circumstances. Except for the public event, most performances are in the afternoon or for a luncheon. Great camaraderie adds to the fun - we are a very social group. One or two extra rehearsals may be scheduled throughout the semester in order to be fully concert-ready by the third weekend in May
