This course will include definitions of spirituality and a discussion of the relationship between spirituality and how we conduct ourselves through a myriad of life issues. The class will explore secular spirituality along with religious and personal issues. Through thoughtful discussions we will develop a better understanding about the importance of spirituality. The course will be broken down to give us a personal yet more profound understanding of spirituality by taking a salient look into some social issues that will include mental health and addiction issues. Finally, the class will help us understand why it is vital to integrate spirituality into our lives.

The class will cover beginning knitting skills: cast on, knit and purl stitches and binding off. Other topics covered: reading patterns, types of needles, tools of knitting, difference in yarns and the use of a gauge. The class will complete a dish cloth or potholder. Participants with some skill and ambition may want to start a blanket. Supplies for first day: NEEDLES size 7 or 8 (made of aluminum, plastic or wood); straight or circular; length-straight (10-14 in), circular (11-14 in) and YARN 1 skein Lily® Sugar 'n Cream® Yarn (Michael's) or Crafter's Secret Cotton Yarn (Hobby Lobby). DO NOT spend a lot on needles until you know what you like.

 Students will review (or learn) basic aspects of Microsoft WORD that will be used to create the greeting cards (a Microsoft Word software program can be downloaded at a minimal cost - we will assist you). Students will learn how to insert photos, clip art, & personal family images from their computer, their cell phone & from the Internet. The class will focus on inserting these images into a WORD document for printing onto special card paper. Students will also learn how to personalize their cards with names & messages. No advanced software required-just Microsoft WORD. Copy fee: $1.00, payable at the first class (includes several sheets of 62 Ib. paper). Bring your own laptop, PC or Apple. Please try to arrive early to hook up your laptop, & to connect to the FLI WI-FI (optional). We will be happy to provide individual support as needed. Co-taught by Cynthia Nikolai. 

Drum Circle is a fun, educational, and accessible musical experience that celebrates diversity, inclusion, and expression! Participants of drum circle will learn about various percussion instruments from all over the world and the proper technique for playing each instrument. The goal is for everyone who participates to discover and share their sense of rhythm which each other, even if just by clapping along! Dancing encouraged!

Can’t read music? Maybe you can...A singer once told me, “When I see the note, I can sing it, but I don’t know what it is.” This class will help you know just that - how to sing the note without necessarily knowing “what it is.” Believe it or not, you do not need to know the name of a note to know how it should sound. This is not music theory, but ear training, learning to hear the notes and their relationship to each other, enabling you to sing what you see. This class is aimed at choral singers who love to sing but learn primarily by ear; however, anyone is welcome. $2.00 copy fee due at first class.

Hopefully this class will enable the student to be comfortable to follow other directions readily found on the internet. Paper will be discussed at the 1st class and square origami paper can be purchased at craft stores or on Amazon. A $2.00 copy charge will be collected at the 1st class.
