Cooking For One Or Two

Sometimes it is difficult to make special meals when it is just you, or maybe two. Learn how to make tasty and nutritious meals in small quantities. Meals will be more enjoyable when you pamper yourself in the kitchen. And when you eat better, you feel better. Learn together and learn to really enjoy cooking and then eating what you are learning to make! Hands on – everyone will get a chance to use the tools. I am a self-taught cook. I owned and operated a restaurant in LaSalle, IL for seven years. For the last 15 years, I have operated a home bakery, specializing in sourdough and puff pastry. $10 fee will cover all food, including a sit-down meal the day before Thanksgiving.

Power of Presence

Having trouble managing difficult emotions? The Power of Presence is a six-week psycho-educational course that uses evidenced-based strategies to help decrease feelings of anxiety and depression and increase a sense of well-being. This is not a therapeutic intervention. Each week, new tools using cognitive and behavioral approaches and mind-body strategies will be introduced and practiced, therefore weekly attendance is expected. Class size is limited to ten (10) participants.
Exploring the Tiny World of Dollhouses

Step into the fascinating world of dollhouses and miniatures. You will learn about the history of dollhouses and the current explosion of the craft as highlighted in social media and on the internet, while building your own unique room box. Enjoy hands-on crafting without being overwhelmed. Each week we will work together to design and complete your room box, while learning about miniature resources and ideas for additional mini projects. Mo will share several of her own dollhouses during the course. No previous experience needed. Cost of Supplies per student: $17 for room box (Up to approximately $20 out of pocket for your own supplies to keep)

This course is a continuation of French 1 from the spring semester. The emphasis will be on learning to speak French and engage in basic conversation using the Hacking French book from the spring semester.
Nature Journaling 101
with DeAnna Varela, M.A.

Join a park naturalist for this indoor/outdoor course and explore ways of seeing and recording observations in nature. Topics included will be inquiry and investigation, articulated thought and storytelling, and basic art skills.
No art experience is necessary and a simple journal will be provided. Optional journaling supplies will be discussed the first day of class. Please bring a notebook with a pocket or folder.
Access to a computer and internet is needed for homework, resources, and printable materials.
PLEASE NOTE: class will meet at St. Patrick's Park in the Brown Barn. Field trip days will be noted on course calendar given on first day of class. *Tell gate you are there for class.
